Meet David Dakan, an inspirational student committed to helping others

When David decided to pursue his studies, Warrington & Vale Royal College was an obvious choice. Not only are we conveniently located in his hometown, but David had previously studied an introductory counselling course back in 2011. David then ventured into full-time employment before returning to education and completing a top-up degree in counselling.

Fast-forward to 2023 and David is thoroughly enjoying studying at Warrington & Vale Royal College once more, thanks to our modern campuses, friendly staff and fabulous facilities such as our Learning Resource Centre. One factor that has made David’s recent college experience so worthwhile is his dedicated course tutor, who provided unwavering guidance and support from the very first session.

David has committed himself to supporting others going through the same thing he has, drawing from his own experiences to manage a team of recovery coaches and to provide invaluable assistance to families in need. Upon completion of his Level 3 Education & Training course, David gains the ability to deliver training in workplaces and facilitate group work, empowering individuals to embark on their own learning journey. Alongside this, David also runs his own private counselling practice which he hopes will become an established business and a full-time profession.

Thanks to the Education & Training course, David’s capabilities now extend beyond individual counselling – he can take his new qualification, coupled with his own experiences, and enrich the knowledge and skills of others in his field and the lives of the families he works with. We are truly inspired by David, who is a true testament to the transformative power of education.
