Graphic Design Success - Meet Lydia Crawshaw

Meet Lydia Crawshaw! Lydia, former student of Winsford Academy, studied Level 3 Graphic Design at our Winsford campus. She originally chose the course after visiting the college for an open evening and being inspired by the work of past students. Lydia had always loved photography and saw Graphic Design as the perfect course to help her express her creativity. She says, "I have always had a love for creativity. Graphic design linked really well to this for me, as I can now merge my love of photography with graphic design, to give my photos a purpose." Whilst studying with us, Lydia enjoyed the variety of the course and the opportunity to get involved with a range of projects. She says, "I loved that one month I was designing the cover of a vinyl sleeve but the following month saw me designing my own gift bag. You can‚Äôt get bored on the course and there is something for everyone!" Lydia also learned how to use vital software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as learning how to target designs towards a particular audience. Lydia says that she would definitely recommend studying Graphic Design at Winsford campus. She describes the campus as "fresh and inviting" and enjoyed the close proximity to the town centre. She also enjoyed creating in the Graphic Design classrooms, saying, "The graphics rooms are really great and inspired me on the daily. Having previous student‚ work to look at gives you the encouragement to make your work better." Lydia always felt well supported by her college tutors, describing them as "really friendly and great at what they do." Lydia also feels that her tutors really helped to boost her confidence in her own abilities and were always happy to help. Lydia believes that her time at college has set her on the right path towards a successful future within this exciting industry. Despite completing her course in the midst of a pandemic, Lydia has been keeping busy and enhancing her design skills by creating her own range of greetings cards. Lydia is currently seeking her "dream job" and hopes to build a successful career as a graphic designer. Well done Lydia, we are sure you have a bright future ahead!
