From classroom to counsellor: Maria’s story

A former Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling student is now thriving in her counselling career, using the skills and knowledge gained on the course to make a real difference in her community.

Since graduating in 2025, Maria has established her own private practice in Northwich and joined the Autism Wellness Project, based in Widnes, as a therapist and student coordinator, supporting individuals within a thriving neurodivergent community.

She has also collaborated with Mind Body Balance Academy for a second time to offer subsidised therapy sessions for people who may otherwise struggle to access support. Alongside this, Maria facilitates wellbeing activities on retreats and has delivered her first workshop focused on self-esteem, helping to build confidence in leading therapeutic group activities.

Reflecting on her journey from classroom to counsellor, Maria said: “Studying counselling at Warrington & Vale Royal College was the best decision I have made for my career and my personal development. I’m really grateful to everyone involved in getting me to where I am today!”
