These exceptional results mark a significant milestone for the college and demonstrate the determination, resilience, and ambition of adult students returning to education to achieve their career goals.
Designed for adults aged 19+, this one-year GCSE Science course builds knowledge and confidence across biology, chemistry, and physics, helping students take their next step into higher education, teacher training, or healthcare careers. It’s perfect for adults who haven’t so far achieved a GCSE Science qualification, or those who would like to improve their grade.
For many students, the qualification has opened doors to exciting new opportunities. The success of the cohort is reflected in the diverse progression routes students are now pursuing. Across the cohort, students are progressing into higher education, teacher training, healthcare and scientific careers, with many describing the course as the confidence-building step they needed to return to learning and achieve their ambitions.
One such student is Vicki Causer, who is progressing to the University of Chester to study a PGCE in Primary Education, while Sophia Broderick is moving on to university to study Biomedical Science. Meanwhile, Vicki Waddell has used her achievement to support her professional development, having recently secured a promotion to Nurse Manager within her current workplace.
Speaking on these achievements, Debbie Roberts, GCSE Science tutor at Warrington & Vale Royal College, said: "This group of students has been truly inspirational. Many balanced their studies alongside work, family commitments, and other responsibilities, yet they showed incredible dedication throughout the year. Achieving a 100% pass rate is a remarkable accomplishment, and I am immensely proud of every student.”
These results highlight Warrington & Vale Royal College's commitment to supporting adult students as they gain new qualifications, progress into higher education, and unlock new career opportunities.
