What is the course about?

This short family learning course for adults is designed to provide an overview of how you can support your child’s learning at home. It focuses on practical strategies to help parents and carers build confidence in supporting children’s education, both in primary and secondary school.

This adult education course is ideal for parents, carers, or guardians aged 19+ who want to better understand how to support their child’s learning.

The course offers a friendly and supportive environment where you can gain useful parenting and learning support skills, helping you feel more confident with homework, reading, and school expectations.

Within this 5-week course, you will cover a range of key topics, including:

  • Understanding the primary and secondary school curriculum
  • Phonics, reading, writing and maths strategies for home learning
  • Practical homework support techniques for parents
  • Using online learning platforms and digital tools for families

These skills will help you actively support your child’s progress and development at home.

What will the course lead on to?
