Save money

When staff leave your organisation, you invariably have to replace that role. Instead, invest the money you would spend on recruitment and training in your existing employees.

Improve efficiency

Training will help your staff improve their skills and learn new ones, as well as refresh their knowledge. This will increase their productivity and accelerate your business’ success by staying ahead of competitors.

Staff retention

Developing the skills of your existing staff will demonstrate you value your employees and are invested in them, resulting in a more committed and dedicated workforce.

Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs)

Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) are career-focused level 4 and level 5 qualifications designed in collaboration with employers and approved against occupational standards in the sector. They are ideal for younger adults looking to enter a specific sector, or those already in employment looking to enhance their qualifications and progress their career.

Benefits of a HTQ to your business

If you have an employee that you're keen to progress, consider offering them the chance to study a HTQ. In so doing, you will:

  • support your employees professional development, improving their existing skills and giving them the opportunity to learn new ones
  • create an environment that promotes learning and development, enabling you to promote from within and therefore reducing recruitment risks and costs
  • make your business more competitive by address skills gaps and shortages.

What are the costs of doing this?

Our full-time (one academic year) course fees are ÂŁ5,995 per year and our part-time (two academic years) course fees are ÂŁ2,997 per year. Students looking to apply for one of these courses can apply for tuition fee and maintenance loans. You can also choose to pay for a HTQ for your current employees. For more information about this route, please contact our Learner Services Team on: 01925 494 400 or by emailing: learner.services@wvr.ac.uk.

Partnering up with Warrington & Vale Royal College has been a hugely successful investment of time for the team here at 10:10 Games. It is fantastic to have an educational institution that really cares about ensuring their students are learning exactly what our industry wants and needs, and one that genuinely listens to our experiences from industry to help shape their course offering.

The collaboration with Warrington & Vale Royal College has allowed us to not only meet social value commitments on our contract locally, but to engage with students locally to raise awareness of the opportunities available within the industry and business. Engagements with the college to date have enabled us to meet and work with the next generation of talent.

The apprenticeship has given students the skills, knowledge and confidence to step up into management roles in the company. We have seen a real change in them and really believe the skills they have learnt during their apprenticeship has helped enormously to transition the into team leader roles.

Having a college that invests a lot of their time and resources into making sure their students are equipped for industry is absolutely brilliant. The technical/design and soft skills required for roles within the industry change through time, with the college keeping a close relationship with our sector to prepare their students well for the future.

Working in close partnership with Warrington & Vale Royal College has given both them and us a stronger relationship in terms of sharing ideas and working in collaboration. We have been involved in presentations with the students and they have since become employees of Catalyst Choices giving them opportunities to gain paid experience in all aspects of Health and Social Care.

We are relatively new to the process of employing apprentices, so we very much appreciate the collaboration, flexibility and assistance from Warrington & Vale Royal College. Our current apprentice who attends the college is progressing very well and the facilities available for him to aid his engineering education are fabulous.

The Apprenticeships Team at Warrington & Vale Royal have been brilliant. We have employed two apprentices and found dealing with them has been straightforward and professional. From registering with the government apprenticeship service to finding candidates and then managing the candidates' development and training, we were supported by a friendly and effective team.

As an employer, this is our first apprentice so we were completely new to the process. However, the team at Warrington & Vale Royal College were amazing and took us through every stage carefully and provided excellent guidance and instructions. Overall it has been an excellent experience.

The students at Warrington & Vale Royal College are a credit to the hardworking staff, they represent the college with distinction. I would not hesitate to take on any work placement opportunities and even employed work with these students as they grow and develop their careers at the Health & Social Care Academy.
