What is the course about?

This short 6-week course is aimed as a follow-on skills course for those who have completed the “Introduction to Motor Vehicle” or those with basic skills wanting to further develop their vehicle practical skills.

Why should I choose the course?

This short course further develops a range of hand-skills and practical tasks in motor vehicle maintenance that builds on your basic pre-existing skill.

What will I learn?

Over the 6 weeks you will be developing skills and knowledge in the following:

Refresh your motor vehicle skills Learn what is inspected as part of an MOT inspection How to identify and change worn brake pads Covering puncture repairs Understand tyre construction including removing and refitting.

What will the course lead on to?

On completion of the course you could study the following:

· Servicing - inc oil, air & pollen filters changes and spark plug changes

· Students may wish to progress to full certified qualifications in the trade area

We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

There are no specific entry requirements, however a basic understanding of English and Maths will be required.
