Creative and Performing Arts Department Raise Money for Mind

This month, Warrington & Vale Royal College‚ Creative and Performing Arts department will be getting active while raising money for mental health charity Mind. Staff and students will complete one mile of exercise per day throughout the lockdown period, whether it be walking, running, riding or even skating! The goal of this fundraising campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and support the incredible work of Mind. The charity helps over 6,500 children, young people and adults each year in the local region. This fantastic fundraising idea came from first year Level 3 Art & Design student Molly Horrocks, who recognises that many people need support more than ever during these challenging times. Molly says, so much is uncertain at the moment, especially for young people. I‚Äôm aware that lots of young minds are at risk and wanted to help them receive the support they deserve. Becky Rogers, Curriculum Leader for Art & Design, has assisted Molly with organising the event and is looking forward to seeing the department get involved. She says, I‚Äôm delighted that the department will be taking part in this event and raising money for such a worthwhile charity. The campaign also encourages people to stay active and improve their own mental and physical wellbeing. I‚Äôm excited to see what everybody gets up to!
