Beauty Therapy student Harriet Layfield pursues dream job working in media
Harriet is looking forward to building up a successful career in make-up after completing a number of exciting projects, including work for social media giant Unilad. Harriet, a former student from Lymm High School, first joined the course after hearing about the college‚ reputation for beauty courses from her clients who also studied Beauty Therapy at Warrington & Vale Royal College. She says, I was informed I would increase my chances of securing a job working in media make-up by becoming a trained beauty therapist so I was keen to come here to learn. She adds, The teachers were very nice and welcoming and there‚ great resources available at college. Amongst some of her shining achievements, Harriet has been approached by social news and entertainment platform Unilad who commissioned her to do some work after seeing her talent on her Instagram page. She was tasked with creating Harlequinn make-up looks on a cast of actors for a video they were producing. The video then went viral, even being shared by the likes of US rapper 50 Cent. Harriet has continued to chase her dream of being a top make-up artist by completing a number of impressive work placements. These include working at ITV Studios and BBC Breakfast North West, shadowing the make-up artists on site. Alongside this, Harriet has set up her own salon business from home, offering a range of treatments and make-up. Eventually, she wants to own her own specialists skincare clinic offering advanced treatments such as injectables and non-surgical procedures.
