Warrington & Vale Royal College Supports 'Make Time' Mental Health Campaign

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recognises worldwide initiative, Mental Health Day on the 10th October every year. This year‚ theme is ‚ÄòMental Health For All,‚Äô a fitting event to recognise the struggles of the vast numbers in the population who have had their mental health affected by this year‚ Covid-19 pandemic. The WHO aims to use this year‚ campaign to push for increased investment in mental health services; an area which is already underfunded. Mental health charity Centre for Mental Health has warned up to 10 million people in England could need help with their mental health because of the pandemic. The charity says an estimated 8.5 million adults and 1.5 million children will need support for depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorders and other mental health difficulties in the coming months and years. This is equivalent to 20% of the adult population and 15% of all under 18s. Here at Warrington & Vale Royal College, we are supporting the Make Time campaign, an initiative developed to improve health and wellbeing of local people, in partnership with local government public health professionals and the NHS in Cheshire & Merseyside. They have put together five easy steps we can all incorporate in our daily lives to improve our mental wellbeing, such as connecting with loved ones and making time to offer help to someone in need. The website also features information about local services. Simply select your local authority and see what help is available in your area. Please visit: The college offers a friendly and confidential wellbeing advice service and we understand in these difficult times, students might need extra support.
