What is the course about?
Are you interested in a career in accounting? Do you like working with figures? If so, then this level 2 course is suitable for you. The AAT Level 2 course is the first level of the AAT Technician qualification. Gaining an accountancy qualification with the AAT will open doors to a variety of careers within accounting and finance. It will demonstrate to potential employers that you have the practical skills and business knowledge necessary to work in a financial environment. It will also provide you with a professionally recognised and highly respected accounting qualification.

This comprehensive course will help you take your first step towards an exciting new career in accounting or finance. You will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of accounting and develop the key skills that employers are looking for.
What will I learn?
You will study a variety of modules such as basics of accounting, which includes double-entry bookkeeping, balancing off ledger accounts, preparing a trial balance, and how to code and present financial information for management use. You will also develop an understanding of working within an accounting environment along with the use of computers in accounting.
The course consists of the following five units:
- Introduction to bookkeeping
- Principles of bookkeeping control
- Principles of costing
- Business environment.
You will be assessed on each unit to ensure you can demonstrate the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding required. All assessments will be formal computer-based exams.
In addition, you will also complete a distance learning course: Personal Money Management. This is free of charge and will enhance and support achieving your qualification.
What will the course lead on to?
Successful completion of this course allows progression on to the AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting. To qualify as a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT), you must complete AAT levels 3 and 4 in addition to completing three years of accounting or financial work experience.
