The project brief, provided by ACDS Centre partner Morgan Branding, inspired students to explore innovative and interesting aspects of Warrington and turn these into digital illustrations, whilst competing to have their work take centre stage. The students rose to the challenge brilliantly and have produced some amazing pieces – all of which can be viewed at the former Debenham’s window in the Golden Square.
Callum Morgan, Director at Morgan Branding, and Ian Cox, Centre Director for Golden Square, were absolutely blown away by the quality of artwork submitted across the board and found it incredibly difficult to pick a winner. Ian said: “The artwork is absolutely fantastic and we are so pleased to be able to support this project.” Ian was so impressed that he has said he’d welcome more collaborations with the college in future – a great nod to the professionalism and sheer talent of the students.
Out of nine exceptional students, Callum and Ian were delighted to reveal Amelia Connolly as the winner, proudly presenting her illustration to the enamoured onlookers. Amelia, Level 3 Graphic Design student at the college, said: “I’m really happy to have won - it wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for being on this course. It’s been amazing and I’ve loved every minute of it!”
A huge well done to all of the students involved: Jess Dean, Alex Lightfoot, Dan Bate, Billy Mitchell, Joe Bradley, Kai Fairbank, Lana Targett, Rhiannon Cooper-Thompson and Amelia Connolly – all of the work produced was amazing. Make sure you visit the Golden Square Shopping Centre over the summer to check out their incredible installation!
