Throughout the week, over 30 employers took time out of their busy schedules to deliver guest lectures and bespoke workshops. Representatives from a range of sectors were in attendance including business, childcare, engineering, hairdressing, health and social care, hospitality and catering, games design, motor vehicle, public services, and sport – plus more! There was something on offer for everyone.
The college’s established Find Your Match event also took place in its on-site training restaurant Buckley’s, which welcomed a further 8 employers to college to meet and interview a range of candidates for live vacancies within their organisation. This event is always well attended and provides a fantastic opportunity for not just the college’s students, but the local Warrington community looking to take their next step into employment.
The week wasn’t just a hit with students but with the employers too! Denise Bowler, representative from The Whitworth Art Gallery, had the pleasure of delivering a workshop to some of the college’s Art & Design students and her feedback was extremely positive. She said: “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the students – what a lovely group! I can see they have an informed knowledge of the creative industries and the kind of opportunities available to them. It was good to see that they all had a clear vision of their passions and careers going forward.”
A series of Employer Awards were also presented during the week. Congratulations to Catalyst Choices - recognised for their commitment to upskilling the workforce, Equans and Riqueza – jointly recognised for their work with students, Sandy Lane Forest School and Nursery – recognised for their support of industry placements, Vizbox – recognised for championing innovation, and 10:10 Games who were awarded as the college’s overall Employer of the Year. Each employer was chosen in recognition of the exemplary work they have been doing in partnership with the college’s Business Centre.
