Warrington & Vale Royal College celebrates its 65th birthday
The 3rd of September 2021 marks the 65th anniversary of Warrington & Vale Royal College‚ Winwick Road campus. The college are delighted to have reached this milestone and proud of the high-quality education that has been provided to local residents over the past 65 years.
The college was opened on the 3rd September 1956 by Sir John James, supplying much-needed workshops and laboratories to the local area. A key event in the college‚ early history was the launch of a brand new purpose-built engineering workshop in 1970.
The college underwent a rebuild between 2002 and 2007, before being officially reopened by HRH The Duke of Kent in 2008. The rebuild saw the introduction of a fully-equipped Learning Resource Centre in 2003, the launch of a dedicated construction building in 2005, and the opening of Warrington Business School in 2006. The college has enjoyed incredible successes over the years, achieving multiple medals in hair and beauty competitions as well as receiving a national award for cabin crew training.
More recently, the college has introduced a dedicated Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Training (AMET) Centre, which will act as a specialist hub for manufacturing and engineering industries.The college has been known by a number of names over the decades, including:
