Level 3 Hairdressing student Aaron claims first-prize in the Cheshire & Warrington Skills Competition

The higher the hair, the bigger the ambition! This is certainly the case for aspiring hairstylist, Aaron Chesman, a Level 3 Hairdressing student who recently won the first place prize in the Cheshire & Warrington Skills Competition.

Aaron discovered their dream career in the hair sector while studying at Padgate Academy, watching content from the likes of Brad Mondo for inspiration to pursue this creative and rewarding career path. Since studying at the college, Aaron has showcased their talent in a huge range of competitions across the North West, with this being the second first-place prize they have won while studying on their course. Aaron's work for this competition responded to the ideas of nature, taking inspiration from an iconic symbol from their childhood; the Mothercare tree!

Nick Mosten, expert judge for the competition, recalled Aaron's work throughout their time at the college, saying, "I am amazed at how far Aaron has come and the growth they have demonstrated as a stylist is incredible. The first-place prize was very well deserved."

Reflecting on their experience at the skills competition, Aaron said, "I really enjoy having the opportunity to work competitively. I feel like working in the competition's environment, where everyone brings their A-game, really brought out the best in me. I am proud of what I created and am looking forward to doing other similar pieces in the future. Without the support from my tutors, I don't know whether I would have got as far as I have today so I am so grateful."
