Exceptional scholars from Warrington & Vale Royal College are celebrating their early university offers

Students from the college have been celebrating receiving early university offers this month, as Higher Education Institutions nationwide prepare to open their doors to these hardworking and determined young people.

These students, whose time at college has been made up of a combination of academic learning and practical industry experience, will have achieved their BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma before moving on to begin their degrees with well-known universities throughout the UK. Their qualification, which is recognised as the equivalent to 3 A Levels, and their conscientious attitude to learning has set them up to be outstanding scholars in their higher studies and future careers.

Sofia Parr Travel Tourism

Sofia Parr, Level 3 Travel & Tourism student, has accepted offers from her top two university choices and will soon be studying towards her Bachelor’s Degree in International Hospitality Business Management. Originally, Sofia enrolled at the college with an aspiration of becoming a flight attendant, but soon realised that she wanted to continue her educational journey by going to university. She said:

“On my course, there is something for everyone, and it has really broadened by horizons. I want to go to university and eventually become a hotel manager. This is not something I’d considered before but my tutors and the college have been so supportive and I realised that the sky truly is limit. Now, I can’t wait to start my degree!”

Another outstanding student who is looking forward to their next step is Lewis Okell. Former pupil of Great Sankey High School, Lewis joined the college not quite knowing what he would like to do for a career, but with the encouragement of his tutors, peers and parents, he decided that university was his calling. He said:

“I chose to study computing & IT simply because I liked it and thought I could then get a job in the industry. Then, the course was so interesting and varied that I decided I really wanted to study it further and go to university. The college has been really supportive with this goal and now, with my offers rolling in, I’ve realised just how much this college has surpassed my expectations of what a college could be.”
