As a passionate artist, C’era always wanted to a future filled with colour and creativity, and was inspired by her grandma to pursue a career in fashion design. Warrington & Vale Royal College’s hand-on and applied art course was the perfect stepping stone between school and her aspirations, allowing her to develop a huge range of transferable skills and build an incredible portfolio to open the doors to higher education.
The college’s specialist art & design facilities allowed C’era to experiment with screen and other printing methods, which quickly became her favourite techniques and have continued to heavily influence her design style throughout her education and career.
Today, C'era thrives in the fashion sector, where no two days are the same. The fast-paced nature of the industry keeps her engaged and constantly learning, while her Bermuda-based business continues to go from strength to strength with the recent launch of a collection of empowering women’s swimwear.
To aspiring fashion moguls, C’era says “Research the specific job roles within the industry, such as stylist, photographer, videographer, designer, fashion buyer, merchandiser, patternmaker, or tailor. Choose courses that align with your chosen role, seek placements or work experience with local companies, and embrace hands-on learning. Above all, stay committed to your goals and work hard, as dedication and perseverance are key to achieving your dreams!”
