This year’s art competition promises to be the most thrilling yet, with the college seeking two outstanding winners: one in the creative category and one in the digital category. With entries already pouring in from local schools, the college has been impressed by the exceptional talent on display, with artworks spanning a range of mediums, including digital art, photography, sculpture, textiles, and more.
The entries will be showcased in a dynamic exhibition held at the college’s Warrington campus. This exciting event will offer students, their families, and friends the chance to admire the extraordinary pieces up close. The exhibition will be followed by an awards ceremony, where the winners will be announced by a panel of the college’s expert tutors and artist-in-resident, Sarah Harris.
The Young Artist of the Year competition has become a beloved tradition at Warrington & Vale Royal College, known for its commitment to discovering and celebrating emerging artistic talent across the region, as well as providing a thriving hub for students looking to kickstart their careers the ever-growing digital and creative sectors with its recently launched Advanced Creative & Digital Skills (ACDS) Academy. Last year, the art competition received a record number of submissions, underscoring the growing enthusiasm and creativity among young artists.
Students wishing to participate must submit their artwork and accompanying artist’s statement by the deadline of Friday 28th February 2025. To enter, physical submissions must be delivered to the Warrington campus reception, along with the entrant's name, school, year group, contact details and chosen category. For digital entries, participants must upload their work as a high-resolution JPEG, TIFF, or PDF via the college website.
