Keep your eyes peeled for the new artist on the block! Sean Muir, a former Padgate Academy pupil, is making a name for himself in the local art scene.
Even before coming to college, Sean knew that art was his calling. On his most recent industry placement with @CultureWarrington, Manchester-based Artist Thomas Byrne recognised Sean’s talent for 3D art.
While running a paper puppet-making masterclass, Byrne soon realised that his young assistant had a natural talent for this fiddly craft, and noticed Sean’s commendable work ethic. Byrne was so impressed with Sean’s talent that he wrote a glowing reference and nodded to future collaborations once Sean has finished his Level 3 Art & Design qualification.
Byrne commented: “I just wanted to say how much of a pleasure it was to have Sean on board throughout the day. Sean is a bright and talented young person with an aptitude to quickly pick up new skills and adapt to complete tasks to a very high standard. I do not doubt that he will excel in his passion once he's completed his education, if not before!”
Through this industry placement, Sean has realised that he aims to be a professional model maker, which he had never considered as an option before. Still reeling about his fantastic experience, Sean had this to say:
“I am so happy that I have had the opportunity to work with Culture Warrington. I would definitely recommend it, and the experience has been so valuable to me. I have learnt tonnes about the industry, given back to the community, and made a connection with a great artist who I hope to work with again soon!"
