Lauren, former pupil of Great Sankey High School, knew immediately that Warrington & Vale Royal College was the right place for her, due to the course being taught in our onsite award-winning restaurant Buckleys and the modules having a uniquely broad focus including professional cookery and front-of-house service. It is the latter that has sparked Lauren’s passion. She said:
“When I was growing up, going to restaurants was always a magical experience where I’d make memories with my family and friends. I want a job where I can do this for other people, and this course is making it happen already! Being able to work in the restaurant as part of my course is opening so many doors and I am learning skills you can’t teach in the classroom. I can’t wait for our next dinner service!”
So far this academic year, Lauren and the team of students and staff at Buckley’s have welcomed over 500 guests to experience the quality fayre on offer. From Christmas and Burns Night dinner services, to providing the catering for our Open Evenings and canapes for the official launch of our brand-new Advanced Creative & Digital Skills Centre, our students really know how to show off their cooking and service skills. We are sure that, for Lauren and the team at Buckley's, the best is yet to come.
Well done on a very busy and successful first few months at college, Lauren!
