Meet Nicola Owens, Summer Floristry student with a creative flair

Nicola has had the pleasure of studying various Adult Community Learning courses at Warrington & Vale Royal College, most recently our seasonal Summer Floristry course. Our extensive range of courses and convenient class times made us an obvious choice for Nicola, who particularly appreciated the option to study at different locations.

Nicola Owens Floristry Student

After working as a secondary school teacher for over 30 years, Nicola sought a career change and found herself drawn to something more creative. While floristry is currently a hobby, she is passionate about it and may pursue a formal qualification in the future to make a career in the field possible.

Nicola studies at Winsford campus, which she finds to be a nurturing environment. The staff are incredibly caring and supportive, ensuring that every student feels valued regardless of their background. She didn't know much about our Winsford campus before studying there, but now she loves it!

A friend initially told Nicola about the course, thinking it would be perfect for her. She agrees! Nicola has thoroughly enjoyed learning the specifics of flowers and plants, and gaining a deeper understanding of the materials used. The academic aspect behind the creativity has been fascinating for her.

The best part of studying at Warrington & Vale Royal College, according to Nicola, is the passion and professionalism of the tutors. She gives a special shout-out to her tutor, Lynn, who has been fabulous and such an inspiration—uplifting, dedicated, and truly believing in her students. Nicola knows Lynn must spend countless hours preparing resources for them and greatly appreciates this.

Nicola actually studied at this college when she was 16, back when it was Warrington Technical College. She notes that the transformation into Warrington & Vale Royal College is remarkable and beyond recognition.

Overall, Nicola's experience has been incredibly positive, and she highly recommends Warrington & Vale Royal College to anyone seeking a supportive and enriching learning environment.
