Meet Amy, Level 1 British Sign Language student

Amy Chapman enrolled on Level 1 British Sign Language (BSL) at Warrington & Vale Royal College, inspired by close family members who sparked her interest in the subject. Eager to expand her knowledge, Amy saw this course as the perfect opportunity to develop a valuable skill that could benefit both her personal and professional life.

Having previously studied at Warrington & Vale Royal College and enjoyed her experience, Amy chose to return for this new course, appreciating the college’s welcoming environment and convenient location.

Now five weeks into the course, Amy has been fully immersed in learning a wide range of signs and phrases, including greetings, family members, emotions, and more. Reflecting on her progress, she shared how rewarding it has been to develop these essential communication skills.

Looking ahead, Amy hopes to pursue her dream career as a teaching assistant. She believes that learning BSL will allow her to better support children and families with hearing difficulties, ensuring a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Amy’s journey demonstrates the power of lifelong learning and the importance of inclusive communication. She is excited to continue developing her skills and making a difference in the lives of others.
