Turing Scheme

The Turing Scheme is the UK Government’s global programme for studying, working, and living abroad, offering incredible opportunities for personal and professional development for students. This year, Warrington & Vale Royal College has secured funding to send 50 lucky students to Sri Lanka for the opportunity of a lifetime!

What's the plan?

Get ready for an unforgettable two-week experience! (Expected to be between 8-20th June 2026. Exact dates confirmed by 30th September 2025). Students must be fully available during this period, with no other commitments.

You’ll take part in one of five exciting educational work placement themes: Healthcare, Childcare & Community, IT & Digital Education, Sport Coaching, or Construction. Beyond these placements, there’ll be time to explore the local culture, enjoy unique experiences and sightseeing opportunities, and of course, unwind with some well-earned free time on the beach!

The trip will be led by a senior member of staff and supported by five dedicated project leaders.

Sri Lanka Beach Turing Scheme

How do I get involved?

50 places on this trip to Sri Lanka, including 5 reserves, are available. To get your hands on one of these lucrative spots, you must submit an expression of interest addressed to the Principal.

Your submission should:

  • Clearly explain why you should be selected for this opportunity
  • Describe what you hope to achieve or gain from taking part
  • Indicate your preferred work placement project area.

You can submit your expression of interest in any format you feel most comfortable with - this could be a written document, a voice recording, or even a video!

Please ensure your submission is no longer than 500 words if written, or no longer than 4 minutes if recorded.

All successful submissions will be entered into a ballot. The first 50 names drawn will be offered a place on the trip, with the following 5 names being added to the reserves. All 50 successful students and 5 reserves will be notified by the 3rd November 2025.

Please email your expression of interest to TuringScheme@wvr.ac.uk by 4pm on Friday 10th October 2025.
