What is the course about?

Passionate about fashion and always on the pulse of the latest trends? Transform your love for style into a promising career with our innovative fashion course! This level 3 programme is equivalent to 3 A Levels and offers the most industry-relevant education around, with a student-led approach and an emphasis on sustainability and digital innovation.

Throughout your course, you will learn how to become a creative visionary, bringing your ideas to life. You will create and develop high-quality fashion products and promotional materials as well as gaining an abundance of branding and business knowledge. Not only is this course unique, it is also a force for good with sustainability and social priorities driving unique forward-thinking outcomes.

What will I learn?

This comprehensive two-year course will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to thrive in the dynamic £32 billion fashion industry. Explore exciting projects such as influencers and social media marketing, sustainable fashion, ethics in production, supply chain, trend forecasting, digital fashion design, cutting-edge styling and image-making, fashion promotion, and the future of retail both in-store and online. You will explore how to use popular social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram in the buying and marketing functions of the fashion industry, creating content such as reels, GIFs and much more.

What will the course lead on to?

This course allows students to develop a varied skill set as well as a portfolio, which will boost their chances of progressing on to higher education or securing employment in this fast-paced sector.

A qualification in fashion innovation opens the door to employment across many areas of the industry, including fashion promotion, fashion styling, fashion design, influencing, social media marketing, ecommerce, photography, and PR and events.

Are there any links with industry and university?

The Northwest is a thriving creative hub, offering a multitude of career opportunities following completion of your course.

Indisputably the fashion capital of the north, Manchester is home to some of the biggest fast fashion brands in the world. Students on this course will benefit from proximity to these brands, which include Pretty Little Thing, Nasty Gal, I Saw it First and Boohoo.

Students will be able to develop their real-world practical experience by completing exciting live client briefs in collaboration with local brands or fashion houses. You will also have the opportunity to take part in industry visits as well as meet a diverse range of expert guest speakers.

Students may wish to progress onto higher education for further study once they have completed this course. Here at Warrington & Vale Royal College we have many opportunities for university visits and have developed fantastic long-standing relationships with some of the best local higher education fashion providers.

What support is available?

You will be allocated a progress coach who will provide you with support to help you succeed on your study programme and progress on to your chosen career or progression path. We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and/or maths, or you will have needed to have successfully completed a Level 2 course. If you have not already achieved a grade 4 in your either your GCSE English or maths and you wish to study at Level 3, you will be required to work towards GCSE English or maths as part of your qualification.
