This course provides a fantastic introduction to the glamourous world of hairdressing and will also prepare you for working as an assistant in a hair salon.
Why should I choose the course?
There has never been a better time to enter the bustling hair, beauty, and media make-up industry. HABIA states the industry size and turnover annually in this sector is £6.2 billion, employing nearly a quarter of a million people. As one of the biggest growing industries in Cheshire currently, there are plenty of opportunities to earn high wages. Learning on your course will take place in our state-of-the-art salon, The Academy, which has fully equipped professional hair salons, indulgent beauty suites, and glamorous media make-up studios. Being immersed in this front-facing salon environment and working on real paying clients will give the opportunity to put your newly developed skills to the test and receive live, honest critique.
What will I learn?
This hands-on, work-based course will provide you with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to progress within the hairdressing, beauty, and media make-up industry.
You will be introduced to the hairdressing sector and learn how to present a professional image in a salon. There will be a key focus on team-working, along with working independently, to prepare you for work in a real salon. You will also develop skills and knowledge within shampoo and conditioning, the creative art of styling women’s hair, colour hair using temporary colour, salon reception, displaying retail stock, and even competition work.
You will build a portfolio of evidence including observation, witness statements, audio-visual media, written questions, oral questions, assignments, and case studies.
What will the course lead on to?
After successfully completing this course, you will have the skills and knowledge needed to progress on to the Level 2 Hairdressing course or Level 2 Hair & Media-Make up course.
Are there any links with industry and university?
