What is the course about?
If you would like to learn the art of wedding and occasion hairstyles, this fun and engaging short course is ideal for you! This course will provide you with a range of introductory skills and teach you how to create beautiful styles with a range of equipment.
Why should I choose the course?
If you have always been interested in creating wedding and occasion hairstyles, this course will introduce you to the skills you need, whether you are taking the course for personal use or intend to begin an exciting new career.
What will I learn?
During the course there will be sessions in hair care, hair conditions, hair types and some hair knowledge, including the hair structure and the importance of the correct products. You will also cover the relevant health and safety information in relation to hair care and services.
There will be practical sessions to enable you to create a range of different bridal and occasion hairstyles, including:
- Using a variety of heated styling equipment to assist a variety of styles
- Plaiting techniques to incorporate into various wedding, hair up styles
- Rolls, knots, barrel curls and buns
- Pinning and smoothing techniques
- Using products and ornamentation to help accompany the style.
You may work on ‘blocks’ provided by the college or on fellow students in pairs.

Are there any links with industry and university?
During your course you will learn various hair styles and techniques that are currently used in industry, which you may build on if you wish to take your studies further. You will also learn the relevant health and safety to ensure safe practice.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.
