What is the course about?
This exciting new course will embrace traditional techniques in stained glass, enabling you to design and make your own stained-glass panel. By covering the different glass cutting techniques and then guiding you through the leading process to construct your panel, the course will culminate in the soldering of the lead to complete your piece.
Why should I choose the course?
This is an introductory course aimed at adults aged 19 and over who enjoy learning new skills and techniques, with the intention to produce stained glass work.
What will I learn?
During the course you will learn through demonstrations and practical making using glass cutting and leading techniques.
- Glass cutting
- Glass grinding
- Cutting and dressing lead cane
- Lead soldering
- Stained glass finishing
What will the course lead on to?
You may wish to study one of our many leisure course or undertake a qualification and progress to the Level 1 Ceramics course.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

You must be over 19, have an interest in glass and a desire to learn a new skill.
