What is the course about?

This fun short course is designed to give you some ideas and boost your confidence around what dishes to serve over the Christmas period.

Why should I choose the course?

This course is suitable for adults aged 19 and over who wish to learn how to cook basic recipes and gain ideas for festive dishes.

What will I learn?

On this course you will cover a variety of topics that may include:

  • Plan your Christmas menus/dishes/party food
  • Looking at which dishes go well together
  • How to prepare your Christmas dishes using basic cooking techniques
  • Hints and tips to help you prepare and cook dishes
  • Planning and budgeting
  • Presentation skills.

All students must wear a full covered shoe without a heel, tie long hair back, and wear a hat or cap along with an apron. Jewellery must be removed when in the kitchen.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. You should have an interest in the subject area, be willing to partake in classroom activities and discussions, and be willing to self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan at the end of each session.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?

You will need to provide food containers to take your dishes home in and bring a notebook and pen for taking notes.
