What is the course about?
Continue preparing for a networking career with this ‘next steps’ course in understanding how networks operate. The Cisco CCNA courses offered at Warrington & Vale Royal College are preparatory courses designed to provide you with the skill and knowledge needed to build and develop computer networks, and should you wish, progress to undertaking full CCNA Certification with an external accredited centre.
This course focuses on switching technologies and router operations that support small-to-medium business networks, including wireless local area networks (WLAN) and security concepts. CCNA 2 follows on from the introductory CCNA 1 course and is the second course in a 3-course CCNA series. It will allow you to perform basic network configuration and troubleshooting, identify and mitigate LAN security threats, and configure and secure a basic WLAN.
Why should I choose the course?
Thanks to new technologies, networks are becoming more intelligent, programmable and software driven. CISCO qualifications support this evolution and expose learners to new concepts and hands-on experiences that will give you the skills and knowledge needed to enter a career in networking. CCNA Certification are amongst the most in demand in the industry, according to IDC.
What will I learn?
You will learn several key networking skills, including how to:
- Work with routers, switches and wireless devices to configure and troubleshoot VLANs, Wireless LANs and Inter-VLAN routing.
- Configure and troubleshoot redundancy on a switched network using STP and EtherChannel
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills using real equipment and Cisco Packet Tracer.
- Explain how to support available and reliable networks using dynamic addressing and first-hop redundancy protocols.
What will the course lead on to?
After successful completion of CCNA 2, learners can progress onto CCNA 3. After completing all three CCNA courses, you will be ready to take the CCNA Certification exams directly with Cisco through an accredited centre, should you wish to do so. Please note that the college does not deliver the CCNA Certification exams but can support students in finding a nearby accredited Cisco centre to register for the exams. This would be at an extra cost to the student.
Are there any links with industry and university?
