Warrington & Vale Royal College celebrates successful HND Public Services students who have progressed to the University of Chester

Warrington & Vale Royal College is delighted to share the success of its Higher National Diploma students, who have secured places on the University of Chester’s Policing, Law and Investigation top-up degree, thanks to a link between the two educational establishments.

University of chester link

Building on a link fostered in the previous academic year, Warrington & Vale Royal College is proud to confirm that students who complete its HND Public Services qualification are offered direct entry on to the University of Chester’s BA (Hons) Policing, Law, and Investigation top-up degree (subject to meeting the entry criteria). This pathway provides students with a seamless transition from college to university, allowing them to continue their studies at the university’s Warrington campus.

The HND Public Services course at Warrington & Vale Royal College equips students with a broad range of skills and knowledge, covering key areas such as mental health and wellbeing, terrorism and counterterrorism, crime reduction, psychology of behaviour, and cyber security. This comprehensive curriculum ensures that students are well-prepared to take on the challenges of higher education and pursue careers in the public service sector.

The success of this link is reflected in the achievements of the latest cohort of HND students. Chloe Hodgkinson, a recent HND Public Services graduate, shared her experience: "Thanks to the college's link with the University of Chester, the stress of waiting to see if I got an interview was non-existent. All I had to focus on was making sure I earned the grades to be accepted – which I was grateful for."

Matt Bold, Curriculum Manager for Public Services at Warrington & Vale Royal College, commented: “This partnership with the University of Chester opens incredible opportunities for our students. It not only provides a direct pathway to a degree but also enhances their educational experience by allowing them to study locally while benefiting from the university’s resources and academic support.”

Warrington & Vale Royal College remains committed to supporting its students as they transition to higher education and build successful careers. The college is currently accepting applications for its HNC and HND Public Services courses, with classes set to begin in September. Those interested are urged to apply before time runs out.
