Open Evenings are designed to provide an in-depth look at the wide variety of post-16 opportunities available at the college, including T Levels, technical qualifications and apprenticeships. Each event exceeded expectations, with an all-time high in registrations and on-the-day attendance, demonstrating growing interest from local Year 11 students eager to explore their bright futures at Warrington’s leading provider of technical education and skills training.
Unlike many other post-16 courses, the college’s careers-led routes combine academic learning with practical skills and industry experience, opening a plethora of doors for students, so they can choose to head in any direction after their studies, whether that be university, an apprenticeship or straight into paid employment. The college also works with some of the region’s leading employers, including Bloor Homes, Screen Manchester, the NHS and hundreds more, ensuring that students are maximising the time spent at the college to achieve both a nationally-recognised qualification as well as employability skills.
Those local to the college’s Winsford campus also enjoyed a first-look at the Cheshire & Warrington’s Institute of Technology (IoT) for healthcare and life sciences. Located across England, IoTs are a national network of partnerships between local colleges, universities, and leading employers of which the college is a proud partner of. This multi-million-pound facility, committed to meeting the country’s evolving technical skills needs, opened its doors to the public for the first time in November, and future students discovered the state-of-the-art, industry-standard equipment and technologies housed there, including a fully-equipped science laboratory and a dedicated Health & Social Care Academy.
With Year 11 students now considering their future educational pathways, the college is strongly encouraging them to apply for their chosen course before 31st January 2025, due to unprecedented demand for places at the college. Prospective future students can find out more information about the range of courses on offer on the college’s website or digital prospectus, and apply online. Paper application forms are also available – students can visit www.wvr.ac.uk/apply to request a paper application form to be sent to their home address.
