Warrington & Vale Royal College celebrates level 3 students’ success with university offers
Students at Warrington & Vale Royal College are celebrating an exciting milestone this term as they begin to receive university offers from a range of higher education institutions across the country. These determined and hardworking individuals are preparing to embark on their next academic journeys, with universities nationwide ready to welcome them.
One student eager to take the next step is Level 3 Graphic Design student, Euan Kemp. The former Byrchall High School pupil chose to study a technical course at Warrington & Vale Royal College because he felt that the structure of A Levels was not the right fit for him. He preferred practical, hands-on learning rather than focusing solely on examinations and end-of-year assessments.
This September, Euan will begin his Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design at the University of Portsmouth. Reflecting on his time at the college, Euan said: “My course has definitely set me up for success at university. I have mastered the fundamental skills and techniques required for graphic design, and I have had the opportunity to develop my own style. I feel very confident in my abilities and believe I am ready to face the challenges of higher education.”
Leah Graham, a former pupil at Great Sankey High School, has secured a place to study Fashion Business & Promotion at The University of Salford. She says studying Level 3 Fashion Promotion & Styling course at the college has allowed her to focus on a subject she is truly passionate about. Speaking about her experience, Leah said: “This course has really helped me to decide which type of fashion I would like to specialise in, and I feel like the knowledge that I have gained is really going to give me a head start on my university course, because the course content was so in-depth and industry-focused.”
Finlay Parkinson, a former pupil at The County High School Leftwich, is currently studying T Level Engineering at Warrington & Vale Royal College and is looking forward to progressing to study Motorsports at the University of Greater Manchester. When asked how the college has prepared him for university, he said: “I have had the opportunity to learn so much during my time at college. The facilities in the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Academy are so impressive and have helped me to develop the skills I need to thrive in the industry. I am excited for the next step.”
Students on some level 3 courses also have the option to progress to higher level qualifications at the college, benefiting from the familiar environment and the relationships they have already built with staff. Level 3 Sport & Physical Activity student, Callum Benson, has been offered a place on the college’s HNC Sports and Exercise Science Coaching Pathway. Callum said: “My tutors have always got the best out of me during my time at the college, and their support has played a huge part in my development. Staying here means I can continue learning in an environment where I feel comfortable, supported and motivated to succeed.”
