Earlier this year, Ellie accepted her place to study Dance Performance at LMA University. This fantastic achievement follows her successful completion of the Level 3 Contemporary & Commercial Dance course and the Level 4 Professional Diploma in Performance here at Warrington & Vale Royal College.
Reflecting on her time at college, Ellie says her course helped her build confidence and resilience. She shared:
“I learnt so many different dance styles such as ballet, jazz, commercial and many more, which expanded my knowledge of different techniques and forms of dance. My tutors really helped me improve my dance capability by challenging me in both practical and academic areas. They supported me throughout my time at college, which encouraged me to continue and progress to university.”
Ellie feels the skills she gained at college prepared her well for the transition to university, which she describes as challenging and enjoyable in equal measure. She said:
“The first few months at university have been transformative. The tutors are so fun to work with. They challenge you while still being supportive and professional. Studying dance with industry professionals has strengthened and expanded my technical skills and work ethic, making me aware of industry standards and expectations. College gave me the skills and knowledge to make adapting to the big change of university much easier.”
Looking ahead, Ellie hopes to pursue a life on stage, aspiring to perform in musicals, on cruise ships, and as a backup dancer for major artists. She believes everything she learnt at college has set her up perfectly to achieve her ambitions.
