It was during an acting & musical theatre taster session at Warrington & Vale Royal College that Alisha first discovered a passion for performance. Having never previously considered a career in the creative industries, Alisha recalls: "I knew straight away that this was the course for me. The teachers made me feel like I already belonged there and were incredibly supportive. The course structure really appealed to me too, and I knew I’d never get bored if I could express myself creatively."
As a student at the college, Alisha said she felt incredibly supported:
"I’ll always remember how the teachers made me feel. Every one of them had high hopes for me and was always so positive. They gave me endless opportunities, including leading roles, supporting roles, youth theatre projects, and casting calls for screen extras, giving me as much industry insight as possible. They helped develop my knowledge as a performer and expand my skill set through constant encouragement and by teaching me the techniques required for the industry. This proved invaluable when I started university. They always pushed me to be my best and believed in me, especially during times when I lacked confidence."
Alisha completed her studies at the college in 2022, achieving an impressive Distinction grade in her Level 3 Acting & Musical Theatre course. Building on this success, she progressed to Liverpool Media Academy (LMA) to study for a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre. This year, she graduated with First Class Honours, a remarkable achievement that reflects her talent, dedication and hard work.
During her time at university, Alisha excelled, securing major roles in course productions, including Glinda in Wicked and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde: The Musical, whilst honing industry-specific skills such as audition etiquette, improvisation, networking and working under pressure.
Since graduating, she has secured professional representation and most recently landed a leading role in a commercial for a music app. This exciting opportunity took her to Prague for five days and provided valuable insight into screen acting, allowing her to experience first-hand how film sets and behind-the-scenes operations work. Reflecting on the experience, Alisha said it opened up "a whole new realm" of possibilities, and she would relish the opportunity to pursue further television and screen work in the future.
This term, Alisha is set to return to the college to speak with current students about her journey into the industry, sharing her experiences and inspiring the next generation of talent. We cannot wait to welcome her back!
