What is the course about?

If you are keen to progress onto one of our T Levels in Health, Healthcare Science or Science but do not meet the entry requirements, or you need that little bit longer to develop your skills and knowledge before making the step to a T Level, then this course is perfect for you.

This unique programme is specifically designed to develop your skills, experience, knowledge and behaviours to support progression onto your chosen T Level. It is aimed at those students who are not quite ready to start a T Level but have the potential to progress onto one in the near future.

Why should I choose the course?

The T Level Foundation Year: Health & Science is written collaboratively between our expert tutors, industry links and employers. You will have the opportunity to develop your English, maths and digital skills as a key aspect of your programme, in addition to developing the skills for successful study, positive attitudes and behaviours.

What will I learn?

You will develop all of the attributes necessary to progress onto a T Level.

You will build your knowledge and skills in English and maths, in order to achieve level 2 GCSE qualifications in English and maths by the end of the course. You will be supported to develop positive attitudes and behaviours, with barriers around pastoral and personal development being addressed, to fully prepare you for a T Level course.

Additionally, you will develop industry relevant knowledge and skills for your chosen area in health, healthcare science and science.

What will the course lead on to?

The course will fully prepare you with the skills, knowledge> and behaviours required to progress onto one of the following routes:

  • T Level Health
  • T Level Healthcare Science
  • T Level Science

Are there any links with industry and university?

You will complete an industry placement one day per week throughout the Foundation Year to help you to gain the fundamental skills needed to become a practitioner within your chosen sector. Whilst on placement, you will be observed by one of our experience Industry Placement Officers who will assess your skills and competencies.

What support is available?

You will be allocated a Progress Coach who will provide you with support to help you succeed on your study programme and progress onto your chosen career or destination. We have a team of staff dedicated to providing additional learning support if required, as well as a highly-trained Welfare Team who are on hand to offer guidance, support and advice. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, although you must have GCSE English or Maths at grade 4.
