This course comprises of tutor lead sessions with plenty of opportunities to practice and implement what you have learnt to develop SQL skills and put this into practice.
Why should I choose the course?
SQL is used widely across web frameworks and data base applications, and understanding SQL allows you to handle structured data by accessing and manipulating databases. This course will allow you to continue applying SQL to database management. The SQL programming language is versatile and is one of the simplest to learn due to its natural language structure. SQL is one of the most in demand programming languages available, and anyone that utilises modern relational databases will need to have an understanding in using SQL. SQL use is predominant across data driven industries. All large companies implement databases and so utilise SQL as a part of their data mining activities. The SQL language can be used across many different software platforms, and so continuing your learning of SQL will give you the skills for SQL usage across many systems.
What will I learn?
Initially, you will learn how to design and create simple multi table relational databases. You will also cover the important concepts of database normalisation. The SQL content will continue with a brief recap on prior knowledge, before progressing to more detailed concepts, such as further multi-table queries, nested queries, aggregation, unions, grouping by, cases, Joins and sub queries. There is also an opportunity to practice what you have learnt within a practical scenario-based project.
What will the course lead on to?
Completion of this course will allow you to undertake the SQL 3 (Advanced) course where you can investigate the different platforms that can be used with SQL. The course will also support your career progression within IT & Computing.
