What is the course about?
This next steps course will build on the fundamental skills developed on the introductory pastels course. You will develop an increasingly autonomous approach, supported with bespoke demonstrations and 1-1 tutorial. You will produce ambitious and personally expressive soft pastel outcomes on the programme.

This course is aimed at adults aged 19 and over who have completed the introduction to pastels course. Those who have a wealth of previous experience in soft pastels may join the next steps course directly,
What will I learn?
During the course you will learn through demonstrations and practical work. Key skills will include:
· Development of composition, focal points and leading the viewer’s eye around an image
· Form and balance within pastel studies
· Dealing with complex subjects and backgrounds
· Creating atmosphere and mood through pastels
. Developing a personally expressive response through the use of soft pastels
What will the course lead on to?
Why not take a look at our NCFE Level 1 Art and Design programme? This course is one day per week where you will be able to gain a formal qualification in art, allowing you to continue your journey to a new and exciting career perhaps!

What are the entry requirements?
Completion of the introduction to pastels course OR considerable previous experience in use of soft pastels.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
Basic materials for the course are provided, however if any extra materials are required, the tutor will advise you of this at the first class.
