What is the course about?
This course is designed and developed for anyone with some existing knowledge of code, and for learners who want to develop further skills, knowledge and understanding of coding. This course will enable you to understand the stages of the software development lifecycle, write and debug interpreted and compiled code distinguishing the different coding solutions and work with our partner employers and industry experts to develop your coding skills through live briefs and masterclasses.

According to Forbes, it has been predicted that 85% of the jobs college leavers of 2030 will have, have not been invented yet. Skills such as AI and automation are in demand as machines become capable of taking on more work. Coding skills are vital in strengthening and supporting digital ecosystems and support around 678,000 new jobs. By developing skills that are in in demand, and with the continuing digitisation of almost all industries, coding skills are fundamental to the growth of the economy.
What will I learn?
You will learn about coding whilst developing practical and technical skills relevant to the Digital industries. You will cover subjects such as:
- Software testing
- Project management
- Coding solutions
- Configuration management
You will also learn about the Digital industries, how to secure employment, interview techniques and personal development through live briefs set by employers.

This course can lead to Higher Technical Qualification Computing, apprenticeship opportunities or secure employment in the digital industry.

We have links with ABB, Draw and Code, Apple, 10:10 Games and Vizbox. The ACDS Centre is proud to work with a wide range of local and national employers who will deliver industry-specific skills and knowledge during the course.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.
