What is the course about?
This exciting practical course will build upon your existing skills in art and design. This course is aimed at adults aged 19 + who have considerable prior experience of Art and Design theory and practice. You will express your imagination and unlock your creativity through exploring a wide range of artistic disciplines. You will hone your practical skills in art making through exploring diverse disciplines, experimentation, idea generation, research and reflection to find your own visual voice and create an impressive portfolio of work.

What will I learn?
This course is designed to fully nurture your skills and creativity. From studying the works of historical and contemporary artists relevant to your ideas to developing your own artistic voice, this course provides a platform to inspire and grow your creative confidence. You will engage in a wide range of artistic practices, including 2D art (drawing, painting, printmaking), textiles, 3D art, graphic design, photography, and contextual studies, specialising in your chosen medium, with the aim of tailoring your practice to align with your future career aspirations, The course then prepares and supports you to plan, manage, produce and deliver a piece of creative artwork to a commercial level brief, whilst developing an outstanding portfolio of work that will enhance your employability and help you impress at future interviews.
What will the course lead on to?
After successfully completing this course, you will have the skills and knowledge needed to progress on to study on our level 4 UAL Foundation Diploma Art and Design course, progress onto university or seek employment in the industry. Our students progress onto a wide range of creative arts career pathways and job roles, including art therapy, film and television, interior design, architecture, illustration, animation, theatre and prop design, self-employed designer/maker, teacher, games designer, textiles designer, product designer, community artist, jeweller, theatre manager, art historian, art development officer, curator, and even merchandising.
Are there any links with industry and university?
Our tutors have a vast range of experience and expertise in industry and across disciplines including fine art, fashion and textiles, 3D, graphics, media, and photography.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if it is required and a welfare team that are on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

Why should I choose to study the course at Warrington & Vale Royal College?
This course will be delivered by our highly experienced Art and Design teachers and will run within one of our fully equipped arts studios.
Throughout your course you will study in our state-of-the-art, specialist creative arts workshops and media studio as well as our fully equipped Apple Mac computer suites. Our workshops contain all the latest materials related to fine art, textiles, printmaking and digital arts.
What are the entry requirements?
You will need a Level 2 NCFE Qualification or an equivalent level of art and design experience, demonstrated through your portfolio at interview.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
The college provides some specialist art equipment and materials, but students are expected to purchase their own sketchbooks, folders, and basic art kits. These can be bought from the college art shop. Students will also be required to pay for printing of work as and when required.
