What is the course about?

Have you considered entering the thriving world of business? Whether you dream of creating your own brand, going into HR, or becoming a sales professional, this broad two-year course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and will equip you with the skills you need to succeed.

You will develop a broad understanding of the different areas of business and take your first step on your journey to a fulfilling career in the dynamic business sector.

What will I learn?

On this exciting and wide-ranging course, you will explore the business world in detail, covering topics such as developing a marketing campaign, personal and business finance, digital marketing, visual merchandising, business ethics, market research, employment law and managing events. You will also learn how to communicate in a business context, as well as how to develop teams and manage business finance. You will be assessed through coursework, which can include exams, written assignments, projects, analysis of case studies, and presentations.

What will the course lead on to?

After successfully completing this course, you could progress on to a university course in business and management, business studies, or international management. Alternatively, you could secure a higher apprenticeship to gain valuable experience whilst earning a wage. You could then move into employment in junior business roles within marketing, administration, finance, events management, or human resources.

Work placements are a vital part of the course and will give you valuable experience and contacts ready for when you begin your career journey. Past students have completed work placements with the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, Advance Solutions Pty Ltd, Warrington Borough Council accounts department, and KLS Law Solicitors. We also invite leading industry professionals into the college to deliver guest lecturers and demonstrations, providing fascinating insight into the real world of business.

What support is available?

You will be allocated a progress coach who will provide you with support to help you succeed on your study programme and progress on to your chosen career or progression path. We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and/or maths, or you will have needed to have successfully completed a level 2 course. If you have not already achieved a grade 4 in your GCSE English or maths and you wish to study at level 3, you will be required to work towards achieving this as part of your qualification.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?

There may be some additional costs associated with this course, as you will be expected to possess your own portable storage device to help with your studies. There may also be some additional expenditure associated with trips and visits.
