What is the course about?
As the need for adult social care continues to rise, it's important that care workers have up-to-date support and guidance that allows them to provide the best care possible for the people with whom they work. If you would like to work in adult social care, this fully online course will help you gain an appreciation of what it's like to work in the sector. You will learn about person-centred care and safe working practices, as well as the importance of safeguarding, equality and diversity, and duty of care.

This course builds on the level 1 qualification and is beneficial for those who are new to the adult social care field or for those who are considering working in this area. You will learn about the basic concepts of caring and the course will help prepare you for employment in the sector. There are 9 units which include: understanding the role of the social care worker; principles of personal development; person-centred approaches; principles of diversity, equality and inclusion; principles of communication, safeguarding and protection; implementing our duty of care; how to handle information, and understanding health and safety.
What will I learn?
On this course you will gain an appreciation of what to expect working in the sector, learn about person-centred care and safe working practices, and gain an understanding of duty of care and safeguarding. You will also improve your understanding of equality and diversity.

This course could lead on to other level 2 or higher qualifications in this subject area, or help support you in your current role if you are already employed in this field. It may also enhance your CV if you are looking to work in this sector.

What are the entry requirements?
You should have access to and be able to use online learning platforms and be able to cope with level 2 literacy.
If you are aged 19-23 you must hold a full level 2 qualification.
If you are currently undertaking an apprenticeship programme you are not eligible to enrol on this course.
