What is the course about?
Studying Level 2 Nail Technology provides you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you need to enable you to perform manicures, pedicures, and artificial nail enhancements using acrylic. In addition to participating in practical sessions you will also be learning about anatomy and physiology of the hands and feet, client care and communication, and the relevant health and safety requirements to perform your role safely. The Academy has a number of treatment salons that allow you to practice your skills in an excellent realistic working environment and prepare you for employment. If you are interested in working with people and would like to develop a useful set of skills that will allow you to train further and provide you with career and travel opportunities, then this is the course for you.

This qualification is suitable for anyone wishing to start a career in the nail industry. It is a highly practical qualification that will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to start work in this industry. The primary purpose of this qualification is to help you develop and practice the intermediate level of skills required to support you in attaining employment in the nail industry.
This qualification also provides knowledge and practical experience to assist you in gaining qualifications in other practical treatments and provides an opportunity to progress on to further training. This qualification will enhance your vocational skills and allow you to work in a salon or as a mobile nail technician.
What will I learn?
You will study the following topics:
- Manicure
- Pedicure
- Artificial nail enhancements
- Client care and communication
- Follow health and safety practices in the salon.
You will be continually assessed practically in a realistic working environment. You will also sit end of unit online examinations or assignments to assess theoretical subject knowledge. In addition, you will compile a portfolio of assessment evidence throughout the course.
What will the course lead on to?
By completing this course, you will be in a position to offer mobile nail treatments or work within a salon environment as a nail technician.
Are there any links with industry and university?
We invite representatives from local wholesalers to visit the college and offer you the opportunity to build on your existing kit for home use to perfect your skills.
Throughout the course, you will learn about the latest nail trends. This will provide you with an insight into how the industry develops over time and prepare you for future employment.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
You will be expected to purchase a uniform so that you can present professional standards from the very start of your course. You will also be expected to purchase a kit containing products and equipment for use within your time on the course. Further details and costs will be available on application.
A locker will be required for your personal belongings during practical sessions (£10 deposit required, which is refunded on completion of your course).
