What is the course about?
This course is aimed at adult students who wish to further develop their skills within glass whilst building on the skills gained from the level 1 qualification. There are opportunities to specialise in specific glass disciplines in order to develop creative freedom and produce more personal responses as the course progresses.

Warrington & Vale Royal College has professional standard studios which contain the necessary equipment, machinery, and materials to teach glass to a high level. The college’s tutors have a great deal of passion for art as well as valuable industry experience. The aim of the glass department is to provide students with the opportunity to cover the full range of diverse activities, skills, and techniques within glass. Learning is conducted in a creative, inclusive, and friendly environment, where ideas are shared and enthusiasm encouraged.
What will I learn?
You will build upon your existing skills, exploring various glass techniques and processes. These could include using stained glass, copper foiling, kiln formed glass. This programme is assessed through practical work, sketchbook work and written evaluation.
What will the course lead on to?
Following successful completion of the course you can progress onto a level 3 art and design- based course such as the Level 3 Certificate in glass.
Are there any links with industry and university?
Educational trips to galleries and exhibitions are organised as part of the course to keep abreast of glass trends and developments.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if it is required and a welfare team that are on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.
