What will I learn?
This is an introductory one-year course that is ideal if you want to study the world of business. You will examine key issues businesses face and learn how to apply your knowledge to different challenges. You will also develop key business skills such as problem solving, communicating, and working effectively with others, and you will get the opportunity to learn how to manage and improve your own performance in a business environment. You will be assessed through coursework, which can include written assignments, presentations, observations, and projects.
What will the course lead on to?
After successfully completing this course, you will have the skills and knowledge needed to progress on to the Level 3 Business course, which could then lead you towards university or an apprenticeship, to enable you to earn while you learn. You could also take an alternative route and study a different suitable level 3 qualification.

This course benefits from excellent employer links, which will enhance your learning and support you in gaining work placements. Work placements are a vital part of the course and will give you valuable experience and contacts ready for when you begin your career journey. Past students have completed work placements with the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, Advance Solutions Pty Ltd, Warrington Borough Council accounts department, and KLS Law Solicitors. We also invite leading industry professionals into the college to deliver guest lecturers and demonstrations, providing fascinating insight into the real world of business.
What support is available?
You will be allocated a progress coach who will provide you with support to help you succeed on your study programme and progress on to your chosen career or progression path. We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.
Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

What are the entry requirements?
Minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and/or maths, or successful completion of a level 1 qualification. Students will be expected to continue to study towards a GCSE Grade 4 English or maths if not already achieved.
