What is the course about?
This is a course that teaches you how to make tasty meals at home instead of ordering costly takeaways. You’ll learn recipes, cooking techniques, and ways to save time while still enjoying delicious homemade food.

What will I learn?
In the “Beat the Takeaway” course, you will learn various techniques to enhance your cooking skills. These will include knife skills, flavour combinations, proper seasoning, efficient meal planning, cooking shortcuts, and strategies to recreate the flavours and textures found in your favourite takeaway dishes, all within the comfort of your own kitchen.
What will the course lead on to?
This course is a basic level 1 course and will therefore give you the skills to progress to a more advanced level 2 course.

We have excellent links with local and national employers, including Greene King Pubs, Local hotels and restaurants.

What are the entry requirements?
To have an interest in the subject area. Be willing to partake in classroom activities and discussions and to self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan at the end of each session and have a minimum Entry 3 in English.
Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
You would need to purchase an Apron and have footwear suitable for a kitchen environment, this will be discussed at your interview.
