What is the course about?
Begin preparing for a networking career with this introduction to how networks operate. The Cisco CCNA courses offered at Warrington & Vale Royal College are preparatory courses designed to provide you with the skill and knowledge needed to build and develop computer networks, and should you wish, progress to undertaking full CCNA Certification with an external accredited centre.
CCNA 1 is the first course in the 3-course CCNA series and introduces architectures, models, protocols, and networking elements – functions needed to support the operations and priorities of large-scale companies to small innovative retailers. You’ll get the chance to build simple local area networks (LANs) and develop a working knowledge of IP addressing schemes and foundational network security. You will also learn how to perform basic configurations for routers and switches.
Why should I choose the course?
Thanks to new technologies, networks are becoming more intelligent, programmable and software driven. CISCO qualifications support this evolution and expose learners to new concepts and hands-on experiences that will give you the skills and knowledge needed to enter a career in networking. CCNA Certification are amongst the most in demand in the industry, according to IDC.
What will I learn?
You will learn several key networking skills, including how to:
- Build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes.
- Configure routers, switches, and end devices to provide access to local and remote network resources and to enable end-to-end connectivity between remote devices.
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills using real equipment and Cisco Packet Tracer.
- Configure and troubleshoot connectivity within a small network using security best practices.
What will the course lead on to?
After successful completion of CCNA 1, learners can progress onto CCNA 2, and following that CCNA 3. After completing all three CCNA courses, you will be ready to take the CCNA Certification exams directly with Cisco through an accredited centre, should you wish to do so. Please note that the college does not deliver the CCNA Certification exams but can support learners in finding a nearby accredited Cisco centre to register for the exams. This would be at an extra cost to the learner.
Are there any links with industry and university?
The college works with employers such as ABB Ltd, Draw and Code, Apple, 10:10 Games and Vizbox. The Advanced Creative & Digital Skills Centre is proud to work with a wide range of local and national employers who will deliver industry-specific skills and knowledge during the course, offer learners the chance to take part in competitions or live briefs and often talent spot for their next employees.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if it is required and a welfare team that are on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.
