The WVR Dance Academy, led by the college’s highly trained dance tutor, Erin Taylor, opened its doors to aspiring performers from across Warrington and the surrounding areas. The academy is designed to nurture young talent and provide a taste of professional dance training, offering Year 10 and 11 pupils the opportunity to participate in high-quality workshops in the college’s state-of-the-art facilities.
Over four weeks, students developed their skills in contemporary and commercial dance styles, learning choreography inspired by legendary pop icons. The programme concluded with a final performance in the college’s theatre, showcasing creativity, confidence, and collaboration.
Each dancer received a certificate of achievement and a professional headshot, recognising their dedication throughout the academy. Reflecting on the experience, Melody, a student from Irlam & Cadishead Academy, said:
“What I have enjoyed most about the WVR Dance Academy is being part of such a fun and supportive group. I have learned so much from Erin and the sessions have really helped me grow in confidence.”
The college’s Advanced Creative and Digital Skills Academy, where the workshops take place, is a Centre of Technical Excellence with industry-standard studios, a 160-seat theatre, and professional lighting and sound equipment, providing the perfect environment for young performers to thrive.
Warrington & Vale Royal College continues to support local creative talent through initiatives like the WVR Dance Academy, inspiring the next generation of performers to pursue their passion for dance.
