Warrington & Vale Royal College raise £1000 for St Rocco’s Hospice at Community Fun Day

Warrington & Vale Royal College is celebrating the success of its eagerly anticipated Community Fun Day, which drew hundreds of visitors to its lively Warrington campus on Saturday 6th July. £1000 was raised for local charity St Rocco’s Hospice.

The college went all out to host a spectacular event, sponsored by Residential Management Group, with all proceeds being donated to St Rocco’s Hospice. The event featured an exciting line up of exhibitors from esteemed organisations including the Royal Air Force, Cheshire Search and Rescue, Cheshire Police, and Cheshire Fire and Rescue – to name just some.

There was plenty of entertainment to enjoy including a variety of stalls and activities, live music from local radio station Cheshire Mix 56, children’s games with Princess Elsa, and numerous photo opportunities with characters like Buddy the Pirate (from Gulliver’s World) and Warrington Wolves mascot, Wolfie! A highlight of the event was the enchanting Tales on the Truck experience provided by Kinaxia Logistics. Becoming a firm favourite of the event, this immersive story time takes young children on a magical adventure as they listen to a tale of their choice on a large truck provided by the company.

A standout highlight of the event was the popular dog show. A parade of furry friends displayed their talents, resulting in a tough competition! The judging panel, made up of college Principal and CEO Nichola Newton, and RSPCA representative Steph Davies, were incredibly impressed with the talent on display and found it hard to choose just one dog who was barking up the winning tree. After three impressive rounds and much deliberation, ‘Best in Show’ was awarded to Olive, a one-year-old red fox Labrador and their owners Aaron and Katie, who received a ‘pawfect’ hamper of goodies, which was kindly donated by Jollyes.

Warrington & Vale Royal College would like to thank everyone who supported the event, from college staff, exhibitors, stallholders, and each member of the local community who came along in support of St Rocco’s Hospice.
