From school leaver to team leader: Warrington & Vale Royal College student lands promotion after completing her apprenticeship

Warrington & Vale Royal College is kicking off National Apprenticeship Week by celebrating the amazing achievements of former Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprentice, Ellie Astles, who has secured a promotion upon completion of her apprenticeship.

Ellie joined the college in September 2022 undertaking an apprenticeship for The Hollies Farm Shop, an award-winning family-owned business based in the heart of Cheshire. Since completing her apprenticeship, Ellie's hard work, dedication and expertise have recently earned her a well-deserved promotion, having now proudly transitioned from her role as an apprentice and retail assistant within the Little Budworth farm shop, to section leader.

Having carefully navigated her options during her final year at Middlewich High School, Ellie discovered that Warrington & Vale Royal College offered a perfect fit for her career aspirations. The college's flexible study programmes allowed Ellie to seamlessly integrate coursework with her other commitments, contributing to a positive and well-rounded learning experience. Reflecting on her journey, Ellie said: "The apprenticeship perfectly complimented my routine. I could deepen my knowledge and advance my career while still effectively managing my work commitments."

Ellie’s apprenticeship has enabled her to get involved in several areas of the business including customer service, pricing, stocking, and computer systems, all of which have helped her to develop a wide range of skills that she can now master as she progresses into her exciting new role. Commenting on the support she received from her apprentice assessor at the college, Ellie said: “Jane has been instrumental in guiding me through my coursework. Her support and guidance helped make my college journey as smooth as possible.

"I am 100% confident that my apprenticeship has prepared me for the next steps in my career. I am excited about the possibilities and the progression that may come my way, especially after gaining my recent promotion."
