Sian Lowe, currently enrolled on the Access to HE: Nursing & Midwifery course at Warrington & Vale Royal College, embarked on this academic journey with the goal of becoming a midwife, inspired by a family member who previously considered the same course.
Discovering the opportunity close to home, Sian lacks the qualifications for university entry but saw the Access course as a viable path to change that. Initially learning about the course through the college's adult course guide, Sian's decision was reinforced by its locality and the chance to pursue her aspirations.
With a background as a GP receptionist, Sian is now set on a career change, following her long-standing interest in midwifery. Enrolling on the Access course marks a significant leap towards her ultimate goal, and upon completion of the course Sian hopes to progress on to the University of Salford to study Midwifery.
Sian values the friendly tutors and the flexibility offered by online learning, making it convenient for individuals with various commitments. The Access course seamlessly fits into her schedule, allowing her to explore academic writing and referencing, with a genuine enjoyment for the diverse content.
Sian has really enjoyed learning about academic writing, referencing and the range of content on this Access course, stating that it’s the perfect stepping stone to university.
